Name: Yoshiya Kiryuu (Joshua)
Sex: Male
Age: Who knows? I’ve been in Shibuya for far too long…Let’s just say I’m sixteen, hm?
Appearance/Physical Description:
Since Joshua would be far too flamboyant in describing himself, I’ll do it. Yoshiya Kiryuu is a seemingly young boy, with a smooth oval shaped face. His eyes are like violet jewels, deep and piercing, while his hair is light ash blond, like the color gained when sun shines on dead flesh. His thin hair falls just above his shoulders, and constantly obscures his face giving him a very feminine look.
Yoshiya is very long limbed; his fingers could rest more than halfway past his thighs while standing. His legs could also deliver a deadly kick, but with this hidden strength, he has a very feminine body build; when he wears a dress, most would believe he was female.
Joshua is of average height: 5’5”, but uses this height to look people directly in the eyes. His skin is pale, sometimes seeming ghostly pale. His fingers seem to be meant for an instrument or drawing and his arms look as though they would break easily. Finally, his small waist and apparent hips along with fluid movements make Yoshiya into the Joshua we all love.
Clothes: While Joshua would look amazing in dresses, skirts, shorts, short shorts, frilly shirts, and anything a person could find, he is usually seen in a pale, lavender, short sleeved shirt. The four button shirt slightly exposes his chest and falls just right on his flat torso. As much as we’d want Joshua walking around pants less, He wears dark, almost black, long jeans that fit comfortable around his thin legs. These jeans fall over a pair of plain black dress pants, and it seems like someone’s been shopping at Dragon Couture, doesn’t it?
Race: I would just like to state that Joshua has no race, for he is a semi-god in my eyes. God, and I’m not trying to get into religious beliefs or anything, is a being which has no race, no place, but to judge. Therefore, I will not define Joshua by such a petty thing as race, only state that he needs none, for he sits comfortably atop what is below Shibuya, judging all the beings around him as he sees fit.
Rank: Rank? Joshua’s rank is the highest he could attain without Ascending. He is Composer of the great city Shibuya and exerts complete control over the Conductor, Producer, Harriers, and all the other reapers of the city.
Weapons: Though Joshua technically needs no weapons to fight once in his true form, he does carry a cell phone in his child form. This cell phone can do multiple things from tracking energy spikes, inputting enemy coordinates, and yes, calling or texting people. Joshua’s power itself, however, does not come from the wonderful phone, but from his great Imagination and Music.
Abilities: Joshua’s abilities, eh? Joshua is talented in the arts, for where else would his great Music come from, how else would he maintain such a powerful Imagination? He can manipulate people, and use them until they are erased and possibly even after that, but here lies his weakness. Joshua, outside of his plans and predictions, has no power over people, excluding his almost unlimited power. His power includes the rewriting of a Soul’s Music, erasure, jumping worlds, and complete control over the physical bodies of those weaker than himself. His Jesus beams which are beams of his pure, unfiltered, power are a plus as well.
Characteristic Traits:
Yoshiya is a very adaptive boy, with the ability to suit his manner to any situation at any moment. Even with such adaptability, he is very true to himself and puts his own values above everyone else’s. He is a complete nonconformist, especially since he broke his own rules to win his own game. He is never dependent on anyone else, since one of the things he hates the most is betrayal. Because of this, he likes to have control over others, but this doesn’t mean he does it obviously. One example would be Neku Sakuraba, who he had controlled from the beginning, but made sure that not a single person would know.
Joshua does have a big ego, and likes to talk about himself highly, but not such a big ego that he only talks about himself. He is very knowledgeable about most areas of study and is an introvert in that he never talks about how he feels when he should. Joshua can be moody at times, but only in times of stress, and when he is moody, he is a dangerous person to be around, with his ability to completely erase people in mere milliseconds.
One thing that Joshua is, if not anything else, is possessive. The things or people that he likes, or even places, he likes to keep them under his control, and will go through anything to keep them under him. This does, however, give people a fake sense of psychoticism, which Joshua does not have; he is only logical, and this logic covers every other part of his personality, except one. Whether it is for fun or business, Joshua likes to toy with people.[/i]
Bio:
Well, I must say, there is little to no information on Joshua. What I do know, through Mr. Hanekoma, is that Joshua saw the UG even when he was alive. Joshua is special. Through his mannerisms, I would say he was born sometime in the 1700s, and led a very rich lifestyle. His parents spoiled him and he got everything he wanted, without asking or working for it. He led a very comfortable lifestyle, but he found all of it boring, until he realized he could see things others couldn’t. Mr. H guided him, and through one way or another, he defeated the former Composer and got to where he is now.
Joshua’s education? He most likely studied on his own since he found other people to be boring and predictable, and his parents may have also had some part in this. By becoming Composer, Joshua was looking for fulfillment, but he found none with the job. At least, not until the Long Game he didn’t. Just before the Long Game, he only had thoughts of how worthless life, people, and existences in general were. However, by starting a bet with Megumi, his Conductor at the time, he began the long set of events that made him realize all the good that can come of interacting with others. In those three weeks, Joshua not only gained a true friend, but he realized what it was like to be just Joshua again.
Of course, this is all speculation and since Joshua is a main character with the least background information, there are many other possible theories. This is only my preferred theory and in no way am I saying that it is canon.
Desired personal rank: Administrator, of course. Joshua was made to run things, in his own roundabout, manipulative, scheming, shady way.
Other: Joshua likes long walks to mess with his date, loves animals, and hates waking up in the morning. He also doesn’t care about cross dressing, and has an unhealthy addiction with coffee. (Just extras I inferred from Joshua’s personality.)
Joshua’s favorite ramen is Shio Ramen.
Canon audition:
Joshua wonders, as he stares at Neku’s lifeless form, what it would be like to be shot the way Neku was. What it would be like to die for another’s goal. And of course, he thinks his own goal is worth it. He smirks, and drops the player pin onto the younger boy’s unmoving body and takes away all Neku has in a short moment.
One day later, Neku wakes up at the Scramble Crossing, he has no clue how he got there, and doesn’t know where he is. Joshua chuckles at the boy’s confusion, and decides to let him find a partner on his own the first week. He knows he can’t make an appearance too early. By the end of the week, Joshua wishes he could be friends with someone and trust them completely the way Shiki and Neku trust each other. He decides to join Neku for the second week.
Joshua knows by the end of the mission that Neku wishes he had someone else for a partner. He thinks, Too bad, I chose you, and acts as planned. Neku begins to become suspicious of Joshua, but Joshua pays no mind. You’re just like the others, you’ll betray me, and I’ll get rid of you. Joshua decides to hold up his lie until the very end. However, things change. Joshua realizes that Minamimoto is coming closer and closer to killing them every attack, and even if they defeat him on the last day, he may do something drastic. With his limited powers, he knows he can do little to stop him. He realizes that throughout the week, he’s learned things, grown to understand the world a little bit more, and understands why he shouldn’t just throw away the world around him. He realizes that he wants to fight for Neku, help him grow, and doesn’t care for the bet anymore.
Joshua knows that he will protect Neku. He pushes him off the edge without thought, and sends himself and the blast to an alternate dimension, stranding himself from Neku, and from Shibuya. Joshua understands a little bit more about Shibuya. He understands her change, her reformation, and why she doesn’t want to be destroyed. She cares for the people within and so does Joshua.
Joshua comes to a conclusion.
If he really wanted to destroy Shibuya, wouldn’t he have done it right away? Instead of holding a Long Game?
